CLASSES

The Millennium Studios are an adult, professional dance center. This means that classes are geared to people who are either working dancers, previously trained dancers or those who have the desire to learn to dance in an accelerated learning environment. Similarly, dance etiquette, which is essential to the art form,  is assumed to be known and adhered to with much respect.  If you haven't  previously studied dance in such an environment, pick up a dance etiquette sheet at the front desk! (special brochure for ballet classes)  Class levels at professional studios are much more advanced than at non-professional or even many college classes.  A student who has mastered the advanced level 5 at a "suburban school" will progress to our jazz 1-2 or 2 level!  Have Fun!

INTRO

Introductory level - Geared to people who have never taken dance; learn the basics here; steps are taught and broken down for students.

LEVEL 1

Beginner - Most basic class; geared to people with very little dance background, people with no background may still take this class.

LEVEL 1-2

Advanced Beginner - The beginner dancer has mastered the level 1 class and now takes the same class format at a slightly faster pace, picking up some new moves and terminology. It is assumed that the student has mastered the basic steps, turns, etc.

LEVEL 2-3

Intermediate - Next progression after level 2.

LEVEL 3

Advanced Intermediate - Warm-ups longer, more technical, strenuous: combinations longer, taught more quickly, so students learn to pick-up more quickly for use in auditions and professional work.

LEVEL 3-4

Most basic level of an Advanced class - Continues in the progression of levels with emphasis perfecting all moves and stylization,  more syncopated or subtle rhythms may be used.
