jae blaze has established a reputation as one of North America’s premier choreographers thanks to her flawless ability to merge the styling of Hip Hop and Jamaican Dancehall. In 2005, pop star Rihanna insisted jae bring her authentic style of dance to her first music video “Pon de Replay”. jae then toured with Rihanna as Choreographer and Dancer.
In 2007, jae blaze assisted with the choreography for the Academy Awards
Best Costume -”Dreamgirls” and again in 2009 Best Song- “Jai-Ho” Slumdog Millionaire.
The Black Eyed Peas showcased jae’s choreography in their “The End” World Tour, “I’ma Be” Grammy performance, and 2011 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Her choreography assisted Fergie “My Humps” and Sean Paul “ Get Busy” videos earn MTV awards.
Internationally, jae blaze has choreographed Japan MTV Awards and the India based Disney production of “Cheetah Girls One World” movie. Ad agencies for Target, Old Navy, Kelloggs, IPod and McDonald’s have all used distinct elements of jae blaze’s choreography for prime time campaigns.
When “So You Think You Can Dance Canada” introduced a Dancehall category to the competition, Toronto native jae blaze made history as the first to bring authentic dancehall to a nationally televised show. In 2010 jae choreographed a powerful dancehall piece called “Clarks”. The online video gained tens of thousands of views which prompted several international news outlets, including CNN, to interview jae blaze about the influence of dancehall on the mainstream industry.
After completing The Black Eye Peas “THE BEGINNING” tour in France, jae quickly jumped into the production of the star studded remake “Sparkle” movie starring the late Whitney Houston and Jordin Sparks. Her amazing work has been featured on VH1 Divas on the likes of Chaka Khan, Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson. jae blaze continues to showcase Dancehall in various venues such as the 2013 season of XFactor, where she was Associate Choreographer for the show. Whether globe trotting from America to Japan, Australia to Jamaica, jae continues to teach Hip Hop/Dancehall and is not showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon.
